Dear Birth Mother,
You are a hero. You did everything possible to ensure I was well cared for, even if it was painful for you. You endured a loss so that I could have a bright future. Please don’t think you were weak because you weren’t ready to be a mother. I’ll be honest and say that there are definitely days when I wonder what life would be like if you had decided to take care of me. However, there is never a day that I wonder if I am loved.
The adoptive family you chose for me is amazing, and they are incredibly thankful that you chose them to care for me. You are a hero to them too. My family has given me a wonderful life, and we do so many fun things together. Maybe one day you can join us. I’ve grown so much since you last held me. I’ve started school and made lots of friends. I constantly want to learn new things. My parents tell me about the day they met you and about the day I was born, all the time. They showed me a picture of you, and you look so beautiful and kind. Maybe one day we can meet, and you can tell me about your childhood. Please know that I love you.
