Many women do not expect the serious emotional, and mental toll that being a surrogate mother can have on them. Not only would you be going through a pregnancy, which is already an emotionally taxing and physically exhausting process, but you would also be doing it for someone else and giving up the baby you have spent nine months raising at the end of it. While you may know logically that this is a noble and selfless act, it can still be hard, and you may have a negative empathetic reaction to the process. You may find yourself going through thoughts, feelings, and experiences you were not expecting and did not prepare yourself for.
