Gifts Ideas for Intended Fathers

Is your significant other the hardest person to buy a gift for? Don’t you hate when you ask something as simple as, “What would you like for your birthday?” or “How would you like for Christmas?” Do you feel like you can ask ‘til your blue in the face, and yet you get the same answer every year? Usually it’s along the lines of, “Oh I don’t need anything. Just a day with my family.” Well, hate to burst your bubble, but he gets that every day. This leads to your buying them the same gift year after year, holiday after holiday. The same button-up shirt, tie or even cufflinks. Hold back the excitement.

Adoption Choices of Oklahoma is here to support you throughout the gestational surrogacy process, but getting the intended father a gift is always a nice gesture. Men are easy to overlook when it comes to the gestational surrogate process, simply because they are trying to be strong. Men don’t want to show vulnerability or emotions. Sometimes a simple gesture or getting them a little gift shows them that we are there to support them as well, and that it’s okay to be vulnerable.

Gift Ideas for Intended Fathers

Here are a few gift ideas for intended fathers:

New Parent Gift

As an intended father whose first child will be through gestational surrogacy, it may take a little longer for them to mentally realize that they’re responsible for this little precious child. It is one thing to understand what having a child entails, but the reality of it is way different. A  “first-time dad kit” is a great gift idea for intended fathers.

This gift can have some fun ideas, but also realistic ideas, like diapers or coffee. In addition, gifts for a first-time intended father gives you the chance to be creative. You can easily throw in some diapers, diaper genie(for all those poopy diapers), coffee, an extra shirt, a pair of gloves or even a gift card for dinners once the baby is here.

Realist Men

Since most men are not into jewelry, you’ll need to think outside the box. If you have a significant other who is more of a realist or practical when it comes to gifts, ask them for advice. They may be able to provide you with the perfect insight on what more practical men want for themselves or their baby — such as a tactical diaper bag. Not only is this a manly diaper bag or a backpack, but it also has the capacity to hold all the diapers and bottles. More realist fathers will appreciate that it comes in other colors besides pink as well — because we all know how men feel about holding a pink diaper bag.

The Osprey child carrier is a great idea as well. It allows the child to be safe and comfortable with the everyday commute, as well as letting the intended father feel more comfortable caring for the baby.

Personalized Gifts

While men don’t get too worked up about sentimental gifts (or, at least, this is what they want us to think), there are a few little gifts that will speak volumes to those intended fathers. For instance, getting a personalized frame with an ultrasound image in it will hit home for him. Ask your doctor or your intended family’s doctor if they offer Build-a-Beat, which is a recording  of the baby’s heartbeat. This will be an added bonus and an extra personal measure that will last a lifetime and mean the world to that intended father.

Finding the Best Gift

In most cases, men are not the easiest people to buy gifts for. But having a little something to give those intended fathers shows how grateful you are that they are allowing you to help them build the family they’ve always wanted. To have them present and supporting you throughout the gestational process.

Should you or your partner ever need help with the gestational surrogacy process, Adoption Choices of Oklahoma will help you at every stage of the process. When a baby is born, a family is born and everyone’s life instantly changes. So, taking those little moments to show how much you love your partner or appreciate the intended father is important because having a sturdy fountain is important for families.
