New Year’s Resolutions for Birth Mothers in Oklahoma
With the holidays season in full swing and with New Year coming up, everyone is getting excited. They are planning on how to celebrate the new year with their friends and family. For you, a birth mother, this can still be a difficult time. You can still be dealing with the heightened emotions that come with the holidays. You can always reach out to us here at Adoption Choices of Oklahoma if you ever need help coping with these feelings. We can also help you with heading into the new year and your new year’s resolution. Your new year’s resolutions can help you get back on track and help you get back to a more normal life.
Make Time for things you Enjoy
One new year’s resolution that you could do this year is to make time for the things you enjoy. Going through private adoption in OK takes up a lot of your time, and you probably have not had the time to do things you like and your hobbies. In the new year, make sure you make time where you can partake in some of the hobbies you have and that bring you joy. Getting back to these hobbies can help you get back to your normal route and take your mind off of your adoption. Doing these hobbies and other things you enjoy will also improve your mood overall. You will feel happier and better after doing these activities.
Spend more Time with Your Friends and Family
You can try another new year’s resolution to spend more time with your friends and family. Again, the time you had to spend on your adoption journey took away from other things like going out or hanging out with your friends and family. With the emotions that come with the holidays and adoption in Oklahoma, you can sometimes feel alone. It is important to remember that you are not alone, and your friends and family are there to support you. Getting back to hanging out with them and spending time with them will help you cope with the feelings that come with adoption. You can get back to going out to do things with your friends and family. This will also help you realize that you are not alone and that you have people in your life who are there for you. The feelings that come with adoption in Oklahoma and the holidays are not easy to navigate on your own. Making time and getting back to hanging out with your friends and family will help you navigate through these feelings.
Work on Your Relationship with the Adoptive Parents and Your Child
Now, if you are in an open adoption where you have contact with the adoptive parents and your child, then a new year’s resolution you can try is strengthening and working on your relationships with them. In your situation, you can still see your child, spend time with them, and create memories that will last a lifetime. Nurturing and strengthening your relationship with them can help you connect with them more, and it will help you feel better about your choice of adoption since they are still in your life. Working on your relationship with the adoptive parents can be beneficial as well. This will help you grow closer with them and can give you the confidence that you made the right choice with adoption in Oklahoma and the right choice in choosing them as the adoptive family.
Work on Your Mental Health
The Oklahoma adoption process can be mentally draining. The emotions you deal with during the Tulsa Adoption process, afterward, and during the holidays can be detrimental to your mental health. Your mental health is very important, so a good new year’s resolution is to make time to work on your mental health and take care of yourself. Whether you go to counseling or have a birth mother support group to help you work on your mental health, it is important to take care of yourself and do what you think is best for you. There is no right or wrong way to take care of your mental health.
