To My Baby’s Adoptive Family: A Letter from a Birth Mother
To my baby’s adoptive family,
Thank you for being willing to care for my child. Please love and protect them as if they are your own child. This was not an easy decision for me to make. I am trusting you with a piece of my heart. I know they will have a bright future with you, but that doesn’t stop my heart from hurting.
As my child gets older, please tell them about me and how much I love them. Yes, I’ve made some bad choices, but that does not mean my baby was unloved. There was never a moment where I wasn’t thinking about what was best for them.
I think about you too and how grateful I am that you were willing to open your home to a stranger’s baby. I can’t imagine all the sacrifices you had to make. The minute I saw your faces, I knew your family was the perfect match for my baby.
I look forward to the letters and pictures you will send me of my child. Seeing my child growing up with a smile on their face is all I could ever ask for. Thank you for everything you do.
Love,
Your baby’s birth mother
