What an Open Adoption Looks Like with Lesbian Adoptive Parents

Hi! It’s me, your unborn baby. Right now, I’m nice and cozy, growing inside of you. But, one day soon, I’ll take my first breath in the outside world. You’ve chosen two wonderful moms to take care of me and love me as their own. Some people say you are crazy, but I know you made the right decision. I can’t wait to meet them! What’s even better is that you’ll be there too. With all my free time here, I’ve imagined what our lives will look like if I have lesbian adoptive parents.

Oh, The Places We’ll Go

When I am born, I’ll go home with my new family. You will go home and start recovering. We are both beginning new chapters of our lives and need all the rest we can get. Then, the fun begins. My new moms will take me on many adventures. We’ll go to the zoo, the park and the pool. Sometimes, you’ll join in on the fun, laughing alongside us. It will be just like having a third mom.

The Things We’ll Do

My adoptive moms will raise me with love. They will be there for every milestone. Whether it’s my first steps or my first heartbreak, they will be there to wrap me in a hug. They will share my milestones with you, too, sending pictures and letters every step of the way. We will then party altogether when it comes time to celebrate. Just like we are one big family!

The Things We’ll Say

My moms will tell me the story of my adoption. I’ll hear about how much you love me and the sacrifice you made so that I could have a wonderful life with them. They’ll remind me that they love me, but that it’s ok to love you too. Best of all, they will always tell you, “thank you.” You helped them build their own family and helped their dreams of raising me come true.
