If you have placed a baby up for adoption in the past or are currently deciding on adoption due to an unplanned pregnancy, there are many possible post-placement services you are eligible to receive through your Tulsa adoption agency. These services include but are not limited to various types of counseling, continuous aid from your private adoption agency, addiction counseling, medical aid, and visitation.
Am I Eligible for Counseling Services if I Have Placed My Baby up for Adoption?
If you are struggling with anxiety, depression, or grief, following your adoption finalization, you are eligible to receive on-site counseling services through your caseworker or through an on-site counselor. If you wish to seek counseling off-site, your caseworker can get you a referral and help find funds to pay for these post-adoption services.
How Would a Support Group Help Me if I Have Put My Baby Up for Adoption?
Some birth mothers enjoy speaking to and spending time with other women who have been in similar situations as themselves. Attending support groups with other birth mothers who have placed other children up for adoption in the past can be helpful to speak to. It can aid in instilling a feeling of unity and not feeling so lonely. If you are looking for a support group, your Oklahoma adoption agency caseworker can help you find one specific to your needs. Otherwise, you can always find one on social media or through local bulletins.
If I am Religious, Are There Post-Adoption Counseling Services I Can Benefit from Based on My Background?
Suppose you are religious or would like counseling involving your cultural or religious background. In that case, your caseworker can help look into other alternative methods of counseling, such as at your nearest local ministry, community center, or temple. Some people find it very helpful to involve their faith in their counseling. If that is what you would like, we will support you and help you find whatever type of counseling you need.
Will My Adoption Caseworker Help Me Post-Adoption Finalization?
Your caseworker will always help you and never abandon you. We at Adoption Choices of Oklahoma are always here for you, regardless of how much time has passed since your child’s adoption. You are part of our Adoption Choices community and family, forever and always.
Are there Post-Placement Services for me if I am Recovering from Addiction?
If you are recovering from addiction, your adoption caseworker can help connect you with the local Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous. Your caseworker can also help place you in a treatment program if necessary. Any funding you may need will be covered by your child’s adoptive family or your Oklahoma adoption agency. All you need to worry about is getting better and becoming your best self.
Can I Get Post-Placement Medical Services?
Any medical expenses you may have or any doctor’s referrals you may need can be handled through your adoption caseworker. Whether you may need help preventing future pregnancies or treatment for a post-delivery complication, you will be taken care of.
How Do I Know My Child Will Be Okay Post-Adoption?
Following the finalization of your child’s adoption, your Tulsa adoption agency will perform post-adoption visits and interviews to determine your child is well taken care of and loved.
Your child has not just been handed off without making sure the care and love that was promised for your child is being followed through. You can even make sure yourself, depending on your private adoption agreement.
Can I See or Visit My Baby Post-Placement?
If you wish to see your baby post-adoption, you only need to choose an adoption agreement that allows this before your adoption is finalized. So long as you understand you are not a co-parent, if you choose an open or semi-open adoption agreement, you are able to visit your child, write them, call them, facetime them, etc. It is only with a closed adoption agreement that you are unable to stay in contact with or visit your child in the future. Some women prefer to put this time of their lives behind them, while some prefer to remember this time of their lives and keep their children in their lives, even though they are not the ones raising them.
