As a birth mother in the Oklahoma adoption process, you probably have some questions about who will adopt your child. This is an important consideration in any adoption plan, and at Adoption Choices of Oklahoma, we are here to help you and your child prepare for the future. If you are concerned in any way about your child’s future adoptive family, we want you to know there is no need to worry. Our pre-screened prospective adoptive families are more than ready to love your child.

At Adoption Choices of Oklahoma, our top priority is to work with you to create an adoption plan that works for you and your child. We will be here for you throughout your adoption journey, no matter what kind of adoptive family you choose for your child.

Find Your Child’s Adoptive Family in Oklahoma

In working with Adoption Choices of Oklahoma, you will have access to a large variety of prospective adoptive families to choose from. We are proud to work with adoptive families of all shapes and sizes, all of whom are fully pre-screened and prepared to love and welcome your child into their home. While we understand that you may have some concerns about your child’s future adoptive family, we can assure you that our prospective adoptive families are more than up to the task.

The first step of finding your child’s future adoptive family is to think about your own adoption preferences. What kind of family do you want your child to be raised in? Would you feel comfortable placing your child in a single parent, transracial, or LGBTQ+ household? Next, you should discuss your adoption preferences with your adoption caseworker, who will show you some prospective adoptive parent profiles that line up with your preferences. As the birth mother, you are free to choose whichever family you think is the best fit to raise your child.

Have a Relationship With Your Child’s Oklahoma Adoptive Family

Another great thing about Oklahoma adoption is that it does not mean the end of your relationship with your child. In fact, it is becoming increasingly common for birth mothers to choose an open adoption or an adoption arrangement where they can maintain contact with your child and his or her adoptive family. If you are concerned about your child’s future adoptive family, an open adoption arrangement can give you important peace of mind.

While we certainly think that open adoptions are wonderful for everyone involved in the adoption process, we understand if you are more comfortable with a closed adoption or an adoption arrangement where the birth mother remains anonymous. There are many reasons why you may choose to pursue a closed adoption, such as wanting a greater sense of closure or privacy, and Adoption Choices of Oklahoma will support you no matter what you choose. That said, we encourage you to discuss your options with your adoption caseworker to determine what is best for you and your child.

Oklahoma Adoption Benefits Everyone

One of the best things about Oklahoma adoption is that it benefits the birth mother, child, and adoptive family. By choosing adoption, you will not only bring new opportunities to yourself but your child and his or her adoptive family, as well. In fact, birth mothers who choose adoption are more likely than other mothers to finish school, succeed in their career of choice, and find a happy and successful marriage later on, all the while knowing their child is loved.

By choosing adoption, you are also giving your child and his or her adoptive family a new chance at love. For many adoptive families, having biological children is not an option for any variety of reasons, and choosing them to raise your child is an incredibly meaningful gift. Your child will have access to new opportunities as well, as adoptees are more likely to succeed in their own right. Not only will your child have access to opportunities they may not otherwise have, but they will know that you made the ultimate sacrifice in giving them a better life.
